And the nachash was more crafty than any animal of the field which GOD Elohim had made; and he said to the woman, "Has Elohim also said, 'You shall not eat of all trees of the garden?'"

And the woman said to the nachash, "Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat,

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat of it, and not touch it, lest you die.'"

And the nachash said to the woman, "You will not surely die,

For Elohim knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like elohim, knowing good and evil."

And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of fruit of it, and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

And the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

And they heard the sound of GOD Elohim moving in the garden in the spirit of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of GOD Elohim among the trees of the garden.

And GOD Elohim called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?"

And he said, "I heard your sound in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid."

And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"

And the man said, "The woman whom you gave me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate."

And GOD Elohim said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The nachash deceived me, and I ate."

And GOD Elohim said to the nachash, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above every animal of the field.  On your belly shall you go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel."

To the woman He said, "Multiplying I will multiply your pain and conception, in pain you will bring forth children, and your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

To the man he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

And thorns and thistles will grow; and you will eat the plants of the field.

By the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return."

And the man now called his wife Chavvah, because she was become the mother of all living.

And GOD Elohim made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them.

And GOD Elohim said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, and now might put forth his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever."

And GOD Elohim sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.

And He drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden the kerubim, and the flaming sword turning to guard the way of the tree of life.
